A medical qualification included in the first or second schedule or part II of the third schedule of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956. Persons possessing qualifications included in part II of the third schedule of the said Act shall also fulfill the conditions specified in sub-section (3) of the section 13 of the said Act. In addition, a postgraduate qualification recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI) or equivalent thereto, is required. Diplomate National Board (DNB), shall be treated as equivalent to the MD, MS / DM, MCh qualifications of the respective broad / super-specialties. Candidate should have completed total 3 years of teaching and/or research experience at a recognized teaching institution, after the prescribed MD degree for the posts Assistant Professor, as on last date of submission of application OR 1 year of teaching and/or research experience, after obtaining the degree of DM/MCh (2-year duration) in the concerned specialty OR 0 years of teaching and/or research experience after obtaining the degree of DM/MCh (3 years duration) in the respective specialty. In subjects where DM/MCh qualification is not yet mandated by the MCI, 3-years’ post MD/MS experience in concerned specialty as Senior Resident at a Institute recognized by MCI for the purpose will be accepted in lieu of such qualification for the post of Assistant Professor. For Assistant Professor in Neonatology: DM Neonatology (3years program) / MD (Pediatrics) with at least three years post MD teaching experience out of which at least two years special training should be in Neonatology, from a MCI recognized Medical Institute. For Assistant Professor in Ophthalmology: MD/MS in Ophthalmology with three years teaching experience in ophthalmology in a MCI recognized Medical Institute. Persons with proven experience and specialization in vitreo-surgery shall be preferred. For Assistant Professor in Surgical Gastroenterology for the Liver Transplant Unit: Candidate should possess M.S. (Surgery)/DNB (Gen. Surgery) with 03 years experience in Surgical Gastroenterology / Hepatobiliary Surgery out of which at least 06 months experience in a Liver Transplant Unit OR M.Ch Surgical Gastroenterology (03 years course) with at least 06 months experience in a Liver Transplant Unit OR MS (Surgery) with fellowship in multi-organ transplantation/liver transplantation with at least 03 years post MS Teaching & Research experience.
